Cedar County Memorial Hospital Radiology Department
Radiology Department strives to offer its patients access to high quality imaging tools. The Radiology Department provides inpatient and emergency services as well as offering a large variety of outpatient diagnostic services to the Community. These services include:
- Diagnostic X-rays
- Digital Fluoroscopy to include Swallowing Studies.
- State of the art Digital Mammography with needle localization capabilities.
- Ultrasound to include venous and Arterial exams.
- 20 Slice CT unit with 3D reconstructions.
- Echocardiograms and Stress Echo's.
- 2D Echo's & Stress Echo's with the Cardiologist.
Screenings exams that include:
- Bone Mineral Density or BMD
- ABI or Ankle Brachial Index’s for PAD are also available.
October 2010 a new 20 slice CT unit was put into place expanding the hospitals CT capabilities, allowing for a faster exam & less radiation exposure.
Another new machine added in October 2010 is the state of the art Digital Mammography unit. Our Mammography Dept. is accredited by the American College of Radiology.
A teleradiology system was put into place in 2004 allowing images to be sent immediately to the Radiologist at anytime of the day providing a quicker interpretation for the referring physician. Teleradiology benefits patients because the physician will receive a diagnosis faster when treating the critically ill and the injured patient will receive quicker access to a 2nd consultation.
In 2006 the Radiology department added a state of the art 4D ultrasound machine The new iU22 ultrasound from Philips Medical Systems provides advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities. The Philips iU22 features 4D (real time 3-D) imaging technology that allows patients to view the fetus and internal organs as if they were being held in the hand. The systems powerful imaging capabilities support a variety of common exams, including vascular, thyroid, and testicular exams. It also offers advanced imaging capabilities specifically beneficial in the evaluation of breast masses.
All Radiologists are board-certified and all Technologists are board-certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The Radiology Department at Cedar County Memorial Hospital is available 24 hours for emergency situations.
